Emmy winner Eva LaRue is headed back to daytime -- and she will once again be joining some of her fellow Pine Valley alumni.
All My Children vet Eva LaRue (Maria Santos) is joining the cast of General Hospital in the newly created role of Blaze's mother.
According to TVLine, which first reported on LaRue's casting, the Emmy winner will play Natalia Rogers-Ramirez. Natalia's arrival later this month could cause all sorts of turmoil in Blaze's fledgling relationship with Kristina. While nothing definitive has been said, there has been some hinting that Blaze's family might not be okay with her being in love with another woman.
LaRue starred as AMC's Saint Maria of Wildwind -- better known as Maria Santos -- off and on for 18 years. Her work on All My Children earned her an Outstanding Supporting Actress nomination at the 1997 Daytime Emmys.

AMC, however, wasn't her first daytime role. She had previously appeared as Margot Collins on Santa Barbara in 1988. Likewise, the AMC Emmy nomination wasn't her only nod.
In 2020, LaRue received an Outstanding Guest Performer nomination for her work as Celeste Rosales on The Young and the Restless. That nomination would eventually lead to the actress' first Daytime Emmy win.
Outside of daytime, LaRue was a series regular on CSI: Miami. She also headlined the biopic A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes: The Annette Funicello Story, where she played the titular role.
LaRue will first appear on February 26. ABC is not revealing how long LaRue will be sticking around, and it is unclear how the show's new head writing team of Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte will handle the story when their new material hits the airwaves next month.
