GH's Kelly Monaco sidelined -- Sam temporarily recast!

General Hospital has once again called on soap alum Lindsay Korman-Hartley to temporarily step in for Kelly Monaco in the role of Sam McCall.

General Hospital is back with new episodes today -- and a new actress playing the role of Sam McCall. But fear not: it's only a temporary situation.

Kelly Monaco, who has been playing the role of Sam since 2003, has been temporarily replaced by daytime alum Lindsay Korman-Hartley (ex-Cara Castillo, All My Children; ex-Arianna Hernandez, Days of our Lives; ex-Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald, Passions). It's not the first time that Hartley has subbed for Monaco. Hartley stepped in for Monaco back in 2020 and 2022 when Monaco experienced some health issues.

"Some big shoes to fill... precious too. I hope you enjoy watching Sam as much as I have enjoyed playing her, temporarily," Hartley said at the time.

Temporary recasts aren't new to the soap genre, and GH has had to resort to short-term fill-ins a few times in recent years. In the past couple of weeks, General Hospital has temporarily recast the role of Josslyn Jacks and Maxie Jones.

Hartley is best known to daytime viewers for the nine years she spent as Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald on the supernatural-leaning soap Passions. Hartley was hired in 2009 as a high-profile recast for the role of Arianna Hernandez on Days of our Lives. The following year, Hartley was cast as Cara Castillo on All My Children.

A General Hospital spokesperson did not immediately respond to inquiries about how long Hartley would be appearing on GH.

What do you think about Lindsay Hartley temporarily stepping into the role of GH's Sam? Do you think she'll be a good short-term recast for Kelly Monaco?
