Lexi Ainsworth returns to General Hospital

Just weeks after sharing that she was "waiting for a reason to come back" to General Hospital, Lexi Ainsworth reveals that she's returning as Kristina Corinthos.

General Hospital fans were a bit disappointed earlier this month when beloved star Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina Corinthos) shared that she has been traveling around in Europe most of this year, partly because she didn't have anything going on at the ABC soap opera. Fortunately, that is no longer the case, with the actress sharing that she is finally back in Port Charles!

Ainsworth posted an Instagram Story on June 27 that revealed she has returned to GH. The post was made from her dressing room, and she tagged both the soap and Prospect Studios (where GH tapes) in a picture, which showed her wearing earrings and posing the question, "Will the hoops come off..."

During a recent Instagram Live chat with her TV dad, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), Ainsworth revealed that she took off to Europe in March following a tough breakup and had been traveling around overseas since. During the pair's chat, Benard hinted that there might be some father/daughter GH scenes in their future, but Ainsworth played demure, teasing, "Stay tuned, I guess!"

Ainsworth last appeared on GH back in February, when Kristina helped Sonny in his relationship with Carly (Laura Wright). There's no word yet on when the actress will return to the screen or what brings Kristina back to the canvas this time around. Keep checking back to Soap Central for updates as they come.

What do you think about Lexi Ainsworth returning to General Hospital? What do you hope the writers have in store for Kristina? We want to hear from you -- and there are many ways you can share your thoughts.
