Actress Kirsten Storms won't be appearing as General Hospital's Maxie Jones for the foreseeable future, as she is recovering from brain surgery. However, the actress says she is recuperating nicely.
General Hospital viewers bid farewell to Maxie Jones on the Monday, July 19, episode of the ABC soap opera when the beloved character took off to Texas. That will be the last time that fans see Maxie for the foreseeable future, reports Soap Opera Digest, as her exit was written in to allow portrayer Kirsten Storms to recover from brain surgery.
As Soap Central previously reported, Storms took to Instagram in June to share that she was recuperating from an operation in which doctors removed a cyst from the lower portion of her brain. The actress later explained that she had been experiencing "random health issues" over the years but disregarded them as side effects of medication or aging. She eventually decided to get an MRI, however, and that was when she learned about her scary diagnosis.
"I feel very fortunate that my situation wasn't more serious and that I had a wonderful neurosurgeon who immediately knew how to fix it," the actress shared. "I'm not gonna lie, brain surgery had me nervous, but I'm immensely thankful to my family, friends, and incredible 'work family' who have been supportive, kind, and loving during a time when I've been feeling a lot of emotions."

Storms shared in June that she would "be on the mend for the next several weeks" and planned to return to work "when this is over with." More recently, she shared that her doctor thinks she is "healing really well," but there is still no word as to when she'll be able to return to GH.
