An explosion has wrapped up Mark Lawson's time as General Hospital's Dustin Phillips, a character the actor says was a joy to play this last year and a half.
When news broke last month that General Hospital actress Emme Rylan had been let go as Lulu Spencer, viewers feared that it was only a matter of time before Mark Lawson (Dustin Phillips) would probably exit the canvas, as well. They were right, and today viewers witnessed the unfortunate moment in which Dustin tragically died as a result of an explosion at the Floating Rib.
Lawson took to social media with a video of himself cleaning up after his action-packed exit scenes, which he captioned, "Actors know this moment is bittersweet. Job well done, but leaving a set full of like-minded, inspired people. Playing Dustin was a joy. Every day on set was a gift, as were @emmerylan @kirstenstorms @briana.lane @thedominator1979 @wes_ramsey @locicero_lisa @mauricebenard @bfordanderson . (And others that don't have social media!)"

The Virginia native also thanked GH, sharing, "Honored to be part of television history not only on this show, but to be among the first actors back to work in town post-Covid. The set always felt safe, and I was proud to be in front of the camera in such a strange time. Thank you for everything. Stay soapy."
Lawson first appeared on GH in July of 2019, when Dustin responded to Lulu's online dating profile -- which had actually been set up to help the budding journalist find a thief who planned dates with women through an online app and then robbed their homes while they were out meeting their "date." However, she found Dustin instead, which was a pleasant surprise for them both. Dustin returned to the canvas later that month and quickly became Lulu's love interest -- and the guy who helped her move on from her breakup with Dante (Dominic Zamprogna).
In addition to GH, soap fans may know Lawson from his 2008 to 2012 role as Brody Lovett on One Life to Live. His additional credits include Pitch, Ex-Wife Killer, Killer Reputation, and Killer Contract.
