Finola Hughes (Anna Devane, General Hospital) is furthering her directing career, having just been welcomed as a new member of the Directors Guild of America. Plus, she'll be making her TV directorial debut in just a few weeks!
After spending several decades focused on acting, General Hospital star Finola Hughes (Anna Devane) is beginning the 2020s with her eyes firmly set on furthering her career as a director. And she's off to a good start, having just been accepted into the Directors Guild of America.
"This happened," the longtime soap performer shared on Instagram along with a snapshot of her DGA membership card. "I cannot tell you how proud I am to be a new member! I have many people to thank for making this happen."
What's more, Hughes announces that she'll be making her TV directorial debut this February with an episode of Freeform's Good Trouble, which she'll post more about as soon as she's able.

Fellow actress-turned-director Kimberly McCullough, who played Hughes's GH daughter, Robin Scorpio, is thrilled by the news that Hughes has joined the DGA. "YAS!" she posted to Instagram. "Congrats. There's something about that card that makes you feel like you've arrived. Welcome to the club!"
Though she's off to a flying start in her directing career this year, Hughes has been interested in the behind-the-scenes job for quite some time. In 2015, she took some time off from GH to direct the romantic comedy The Byrd and the Bees, which features her former GH castmate and good friend Ian Buchanan (ex-Duke Lavery). Her directing credits also include the film The Bet and a pilot for a potential TV series titled Cypress Bayou.
Freeform's Good Trouble is a spin-off of The Fosters and follows that series' characters Callie and Mariana as they head into their adult lives and explore what the world holds for them. Good Trouble is executive produced by The Fosters' Joanna Johnson, who played both Caroline and Karen Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful. Meanwhile, Heather Tom, who plays Katie Logan on the CBS soap opera, directed an episode of Good Trouble titled "Palentine's Day," which is set to air sometime around Valentine's Day.
