General Hospital's Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) opens up about the stress that forced her to take a leave of absence from the ABC soap.
General Hospital fans were treated to a familiar face yesterday when Kirsten Storms returned from her temporary hiatus to step back into the shoes of Maxie Jones. The actress, who was replaced by Days of our Lives alum Molly Burnett (ex-Melanie Jonas) for a short spell, had to take leave due to skin breakouts caused by stress.
"I don't think it was something that was in anybody's control, because my skin had just gotten to a point where it was telling me and my body that I needed to take a break," she tells Soap Opera Digest, alluding to her recent divorce from former costar Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny Zacchara). "With everything that had gone on in my personal life, I also happened to be working a lot at the same time... I hadn't given myself time to process everything that was going on."
Fortunately, taking a bit of time out of Port Charles seemed to do the trick. "Within days of being on a break, my skin had completely cleared," she reports.
