From Oscar-nominated Boyz n the Hood director John Singleton, Rebel is a new police drama that follows Oakland cop Rebecca "Rebel" Cole, who becomes a private investigator after her brother is killed by police.
"Rebel will allow us to address issues that are very relevant and germane to our audience," says Stephen Hill, BET Networks president of programming, of the new series. "When we pick our shows we look at how we can best tell the stories of our audience. It's important that the issue that are in our world are on our screen as well."
At this time, there's no word on how much Williamson will be working on Rebel and whether or not the new role will affect her GH gig.
