GH's Maurice Benard checks in to another daytime medical series

It looks like Maurice Benard checked out of General Hospital for a visit to a non-Port Charles physician: daytime's popular Dr. Oz!

General Hospital has its fair share of patients, so the staff probably won't mind that Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) is temporarily jumping ship and heading to another medical-oriented place altogether: the daytime series The Dr. Oz Show.

Benard alerted fans to his upcoming appearance on the syndicated program via Instagram, posting a picture of himself, wife Paula, and their daughters with the caption: "Getting ready for the great @dr_oz show Going to discuss something very important to me," along with the hashtags #droz, #bipolar, #mentalhealthawareness, and #erasingthestigma.

Benard's Dr. Oz appearance, which his Instagram message hints will be about his real-life experience with bipolar disorder, airs on Thursday, February 25.

What do you think about Benard visiting The Dr. Oz Show? How do you feel about him being public about his experiences with bipolar disorder?
