GH ratings at highest levels since 2008

A legal spat is taking Michael Easton off of ABC's General Hospital

After years of declining ratings, General Hospital fans have reason to celebrate: the show's ratings are at their highest levels in quite some time. One of last week's episodes was one the most-watched in two years.

General Hospital's 50th anniversary has been a blockbuster year in the ratings department. The ABC soap has recently topped long-standing ratings marks and is on track for one of its most-watched years in quite some time.

During the week of September 2, GH's so-called "baby fever" stories helped propel the show to two-year ratings highs in key demographics: Women 18-49 (734,000 viewers) and Women 25-54 (967,000 viewers). The Thursday, September 5 episode featuring the imminent birth of Britt's baby stood as the series' most-watched telecast in two years among Women 18-49 (845,000) and Women 25-54 (1.06 million).

As the 2012-2013 season draws to a close, General Hospital is on target to have its strongest season in total viewers in five years. GH is averaging 2.97 million viewers, up a whopping 14% from 2011-2012's 2.61 million viewers.

So far this season, General Hospital ranks as television's #1 daytime broadcast for Women 18-34.
