General Hospital's Molly Lansing-Davis and TJ Ashford were just teenagers when they first met in 2012. At the time, Molly was played by Hayley Pullos and Tequan Richmond played TJ.
Flash forward a dozen years, and Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and TJ (Tajh Bellow) are successful young adults. She is a lawyer, he is a doctor, and they are in a domestic partnership, but their fertility troubles have spelled the possible end of their long, healthy relationship.

Ever since Kristina (Kate Mansi) fell from the window and plunged into the pool, resulting in the death of the baby she was carrying for Molly and TJ, their relationship has been slowly unraveling.
Molly's emotional wall and type-A personality helped create a distance between her and TJ after baby Irene died. When TJ expressed his desire to try to become parents again, and Molly was adamant that she couldn't go through that one more time, they realized they had come to an impasse. TJ packed a bag and left before telling his uncle Curtis (Donnell Turner) that he and Molly were on a break — one that could lead to a permanent split.
While Molly and TJ had some brief troubles in 2020, which resulted in Molly sleeping with Brando (Johnny Wactor) when she thought TJ had left her, this is the first time they have come to a mutual decision to separate. The scenes where Molly and TJ poured out their feelings were heartbreaking, but Kristen Vaganos and Tajh Bellow put their hearts and souls into them.
"We really had this shared awareness of the responsibility to do the story and their relationship justice and to honor it as it sort of fell apart, and to experience the weight of that," Vaganos told Soap Opera Digest. It really had to be sort of brutal and heartbreaking and not easy for them to come to this conclusion [about separating] because there is so much love and history there."
Will a new Molly emerge on General Hospital?
GH has been hinting toward a new start for Molly and seemingly chemistry-testing her with other leading men. Molly has shared some simple scenes with both Dex (Evan Hofer) and Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) that have been enjoyable and made fans wonder if she will soon be single. While Molly may explore a single life now, Vaganos doesn't rule out a reunion with TJ.
"With some distance, maybe they can, sort of, choose each other again with a newfound motivation, but the thing that worries me in terms of, their relationship is, the simple fact of right now, do they want the same future? Because it, doesn’t sound like they do," Vaganos said. "And that happens all the time, that couples who are really great together are broken up by this, just one simple black and white thing as if you don’t want the same thing, then you just can’t force it. But maybe Molly will come around and maybe she will want kids again. We’ll see."
