On General Hospital, Sasha (Sofia Mattson) is pregnant again, this time with Michael’s (Chad Duell) child from their one-night stand, where both were commiserating about their lives. She kept quiet about her baby’s father, but as word got out, Jason (Steve Burton) had to step up and pretend to be the baby daddy. Amidst all this chaos, Mattsson appeared on The Daily Drama Podcast hosted by her co-stars Burton and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) and discussed Sasha’s latest drama-filled story.
It’s going to lead to more crazy stuff

On Daily Drama, Anderson and Burton wasted no time bringing up Sasha’s plight. The hosts asked to track Sasha’s life in Port Charles, and Mattsson remarked, “I don't even know where to begin…I'm like the queen of just disasters.” She described her General Hospital character as “The person who just terrible things happen to all the time, just one thing after another.”
She recalled that Sasha first came to Port Charles pretending to be Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) daughter and was a “bad girl.” Ultimately, she was happy that Sasha found redemption after that story arc. She explained that Sasha’s con on Nina was to obtain money for her grandmother, but Mattsson didn’t know if it was for her mom, Holly’s (Emma Samms) mother, or her father, Robert’s (Tristan Rogers) mom. At the time she came on the show, Sasha had no idea that Robert was her dad, and she wanted nothing to do with Holly.
Mattsson also explained that she, the actress, didn’t even know about the Holly connection until a month before the scenes with Samms were shot. “It all happened so fast,” she stated, clarifying that Sasha knew who her mother was all along, but Mattsson only found out when it was revealed to the audience.
When Mattsson also explained that Sasha was mostly raised by her grandmother because Holly was off running cons around the world, Burton exclaimed, “Finally a deadbeat mom! Finally. Finally. Thank you. Thank you deadbeat mom Holly.” His remark came because Jason had been off of General Hospital a couple of times for a few years at a clip when Burton departed, causing Jason’s son Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) to be without a dad for long periods.
As they discussed Sasha’s progression through the years, they discussed her relationship with Brando, played by the late Johnny Wactor. She recalled loving the storylines where Sasha and Brando had baby Liam, who died, and then Brando was killed by Heather (Alley Mills). She praised Wactor’s amazing acting skills.
Moving forward in time, General Hospital’s Mattsson explained that when Sasha and Cody (Josh Kelly) were in a relationship -- before they discovered they were cousins -- she spoke with executive producer Frank Valentini. “I remember the day when…I was just having some fun scenes with Cody, like flirty stuff, then like I talked to Frank,” she said, adding, “and he was like, ‘Oh yeah, like, you're gonna get pregnant,’ and then I just assumed ‘Oh, with Cody,’ and [he said] ‘with Michael’ and I was like ‘What? Like wait, I'm with this guy?’ ” meaning Cody.
She further explained that the story “all just happened so quickly,” and the revelation occurred just before Sasha and Cody were going to attempt to hit the sheets. The three speculated why the powers that be decided to shuffle things around and make Sasha and Cody cousins. Anderson noted by doing that, “You've taken a chip away for potential future romantic drama, too."
Burton explained that the current story in which Jason is pretending to be the father of Sasha’s child is because if the truth came out, Michael (who’s recovering from severe burns in Germany) could lose custody of his children. “That’s the con!” he exclaimed.
General Hospital's Sofia Mattsson chimed in that the characters' decisions will lead to “a lot more crazy stuff.” But she’s glad to work with Burton, especially since their paths, and Jason and Sasha’s paths, rarely cross. (See if you agree with the case for Jason and Sasha.)
