With General Hospital’s Emma Samms back in Port Charles, danger will continue to follow her character, Holly Sutton. Meanwhile, Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) is working his way up the ladder in the police force, ensuring that he’ll also be facing danger of some kind. While the two characters are very adventurous, Dex and Holly have never met on-screen. As a result, the two actors never crossed paths. However, Samms had a fun story about how she finally met Hofer.
She took his dressing room
General Hospital’s Emma Samms spoke with Soap Opera Digest and explained that while she was ecstatic to be back, she hadn't expected that people would be over the moon about it. She also stated that it was even more wonderful to be welcomed back by her castmates. But a new face in the crowd stood out to her because of his exemplary manners and graciousness: Evan Hofer.
Feeling that her story had to be shared, she explained that she was given the same dressing room as when she had last appeared in April 2023. Because she’s still dealing with Long COVID, the show was very accomodating by ensuring the room was in proximity to the restroom and elevator. Finding the belongings of another performer there, she assumed that they weren’t working while she worked on her scenes. The room even had Hofer's name on the door.

Later, while getting her makeup done:
A delightful young man comes up and says, ‘Oh, I just wanted to let you know that you’re in my dressing room, which I’m delighted about.’ He says, ‘And if you would like some tea, there’s a whole selection in the top drawer on the left.’
She was aghast that executive producer Frank Valentini had told Hofer to allow her to use his dressing room during her short run on General Hospital. Hofer insisted that he had no problem being displaced for the time being, Samms explained that she partook of the various types of teas Hofer had and was truly thankful for it.
Feeling like she stole Hofer’s dressing room, Samms remarked:
So every time I see him now, I’m completely filled and wracked with guilt that he’s, you know, been asked to move out of his dressing room and he’s done it with such good grace! I mean, how lovely is that?”
General Hospital’s Hofer is a super nice guy
Hofer is widely known for being a kind and generous man, and Samms felt that was a rarity in an industry where many people feel entitled. She praised his upbringing after he explained he was from Leavenworth, Kansas, and she was just astonished at his graciousness.
I feel he deserves to have all the plaudits and public thanks for just being so kind and gracious.
Dex and Holly definitely need to share some screen time, and perhaps even go on an adventure together. Her son, Ethan Lovett (James Ryan), is always getting into trouble with nefarious people, so she might have to recruit Dex the next time she has to bail her boy out. Having previously worked for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Dex has similar skills to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) that he could put to good use, and a pairing of the two would definitely get more viewers to tune in.
