Valentin Cassadine has been missing in action since July, as actor James Patrick Stuart seems to have taken a break from the ABC soap. His previous breaks were to film the Disney series The Villains of Valley View, but now comes word that the series was officially canceled after two seasons.
James Patrick Stuart's Disney series career explained
In 2021, Stuart landed a role in a Disney comedy known as Meet the Mayhems. Before its 2022 premiere, the series name was changed to The Villains of Valley View. Stuart took a GH break to make the first season. When filming began for the second season, Stuart performed double duty and appeared on both shows. However, GH had to adjust its shooting schedule to accommodate Stuart.
Last fall, Stuart believed The Villains of Valley View would return for a third season, so GH prepared to write around his taping schedule and feature Valentin less for several months. The show also chose to break up Anna and Valentin so that actress Finola Hughes could be in other stories during Stuart's absence, as the actor explained on The Daily Drama Podcast in December of 2023. However, taping never began, and Stuart and Valentin were left without a major storyline.

On October 3, 2024, the show's executive producer, Chris Peterson, tweeted the news that Disney had finally officially canceled the series.
"All good things must come to an end...and after two incredible seasons such is the case with The Villains of Valley View," Peterson wrote before thanking the cast and crew for their hard work.
Will Stuart be back on General Hospital?
When Stuart last appeared on GH this past summer, Valentin fled town after Anna warned him she had proof he was the head of the Pikeman Group and was wanted by the FBI. He quickly took off with his teenage daughter, Charlotte, while Stuart has been enjoying life in Oregon.
Since joining GH in 2016, Stuart has been on recurring status with the show, so he never officially exited, as a contract did not come to an end.
At the moment, Valentin is desperately needed in Port Charles, as Anna finds herself attracted to Jason. In addition, Charlotte's mother, Lulu, is about to emerge from her four-year coma. With Stuart no longer officially obligated to The Villians of Valley View, might he decide to make a return appearance on GH? Stay tuned to find out.
