The end of Carly? Laura Wright addresses her General Hospital status

When General Hospital's Carly left for Germany with Michael on the January 21st episode, it sent off an alarm bell with fans as they wondered if Laura Wright was leaving the soap along with Chad Duell.

In the story, Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) helped Carly secure a spot for Michael (Chad Duell) at a special clinic in Germany that could help treat his severe burns. After Michael chose the Gernamn clinic over Johns Hopkins, Carly got a private jet with a nurse and hopped on board to accompany her son overseas.

She shared a goodbye with Jack, thanking him for everything he did for her and making it seem like they would pick up where they left off upon her return. However, some fans wondered if Carly would be returning at all.

Social media makes it easy to just ask soap stars about their lives, which is what one fan did when they posted to X (formerly Twitter) after Michael's final episode aired.

"Is it true you're getting married and leaving the show for a while? If so, you will come back won't you?" X user @LindaJo51355230 asked.

Wright saw the question and offered a simple answer. "Nope, not true at all," she wrote.

Wright has been involved with former co-star Wes Ramsey (ex-Peter August) since 2017, pre-dating his GH stint. Although the pair appear very much in love in an abundance of social media posts, they have never announced an engagement or a plan to marry any time soon, which Wright confirmed with her post.

Although there is no word on how long Carly will remain in Germany with Michael, she is still very much a part of the Port Charles canvas. Her other children, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Donna (Scarlett Brielle), live there. Since Donna is only a small child, it makes sense that her mother wouldn't leave her behind permanently.

Over the last year, Carly has also been in a slow-burning relationship with Jack Brennan, which is now on hold. With Carly having her goodbye scene with Jack and not Sonny (Maurice Benard), it looks like Jack and Carly's friendship could very well turn into something more when Carly is back in town. Of course, she will also still have Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) to deal with, so the drama will be there upon her return.
