Welcome to the General Hospital Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What Happened on General Hospital

While the memories and sentiment of the anniversary episode celebrating the opening of the Dr. Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Care Center were glorious and heartwarming, it felt out of place with all the angst, chaos, and dire drama that were the highlights of Monday's show. The most glaringly odd moment came when Alexis and Sonny had a sweet chat at the memorial wall. Alexis mentioned she was at the hospital for an AA meeting and decided to stay for the dedication ceremony while Sonny was there because he was the mysterious benefactor that made it all happen. This seemed like a pretty innocuous scene during a special episode, but nobody made any mention of the fact that Sonny's brother and Alexis' ex-husband (and father of her child) was in the hospital near death after a horrible car accident. The last we saw of Alexis at the end of Monday's episode, she was supporting a devastated and frantic Molly after Lucas gave her bad news about Ric. Alexis acted as if this never happened. In addition, Maxie made a big deal about how helpful and wonderful the GH nurses are, making no mention that the hospital's head nurse, Elizabeth Baldwin, was in the same accident and also upstairs in a room waiting for surgery. While this episode was purposely timed with the soap's anniversary, perhaps the accident story could have been delayed a few days so the erasure of the crash wouldn't seem so glaring. It was the one damper on a beautiful day that made us remember why we watch soaps.
