General Hospital baby dilemma

General Hospital's Kristina and Molly are about to enter the fight of their lives now that Molly has ordered Kristina to sign over all rights to the baby she's carrying -- a baby she's supposed to hand over to Molly and T.J. as soon as it's born.

When Molly and Kristina first entered into their surrogacy agreement, they did it with love and trust between sisters, but Molly no longer thinks she can trust her older sibling to do the right thing. Hearing Kristina act like the baby was hers and Blaze's when they appeared on Perez Hilton's show sent Molly and T.J. into a tailspin.

Actress Kate Mansi understands Kristina's point of view -- and why.

"I see it from Molly’s perspective, but from Kristina’s perspective, it was more about her trying to protect her sister, by not wanting to bring any unwanted attention to, 'Oh, your sister’s infertile,' or 'Your sister has endometriosis' or any of her health issues. Kristina felt like, 'I’m not going to say I’m carrying my sister’s baby because obviously, anything you say in a Perez Hilton interview is now going to be the next viral topic,'" Mansi told Soap Opera Digest.

Molly and T.J. convinced themselves that Kristina would try to keep the baby made from Kristina's egg and T.J.'s sperm, so Molly acted preemptively and shocked her sister by handing her papers to sign. Needless to say, Kristina was stunned and offended.

"Kristina is so insulted when she hands her papers basically saying, ‘You have to sign over all of your rights,'" Mansi explained. “I think that getting slapped with the papers and holding the tangible proof is the ultimate trigger."

There's also still more drama to come once the baby is born in August. Molly's dad, Ric, will return to Port Charles to support his daughter, while Kristina must deal with her maternal instincts that are raging as she reaches her last month of pregnancy.

"The real issue at the root of this is that she is having [these feelings of] attachment to this baby and as it gets closer and closer [to being born], it becomes increasingly more difficult for her to imagine separating from the baby," Mansi said.

With Kristina refusing to sign the papers and Molly bringing up every past mistake Kristina ever made, will Alexis have to step in and negotiate peace in this war between her daughters?
