Should General Hospital’s Dex and Molly hook up?

General Hospital's Molly and Dex meet at a bar.

General Hospital’s Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) has been reeling ever since Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) miscarried the baby she was carrying for her sister Molly and T.J. Ashford (Tajh Bellow). Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) went to a bar on the September 23 episode, where he found Molly attempting to drown her sorrows. She opened up to him about how distraught she was over the fact that her daughter would never get to grow up and enjoy life. Dex has always been a good listener, and in this situation, it seemed like the show was setting things up for a new pairing.

An affair is possible

T.J. and Molly have been on shaky ground ever since the baby’s death. Considering some fans have traditionally regarded them as one of the most boring couples on the show, this recent turn of events has finally made them interesting. Dex, sporting what seemed like a new blond tinge to his hair, has been reinventing himself ever since leaving Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) organization and joining the police force. Molly’s in desperate need of a reinvention herself, and an affair between the two would be well within the realm of possibility.

However, Dex and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) have patched up their relationship and seem to be doing well. But Josslyn is a bit opinionated and volatile, and the slightest thing could set her off. She believes her mother, Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), had ex-sex with Sonny, although deep down, she’s pretty sure Carly’s just providing an alibi for him for the night of John Cates’s (Adam J. Harrington) murder. There’s no reason for Dex to have an affair with Molly, but since this is a soap opera, anything could happen.

Molly’s very needy right now, and crying on Dex’s shoulder was very cathartic for her. Even though she told him that work is her happy place and takes her mind off things, she’s only human. If there are a few more chance encounters with Dex, odds are that she may give in to her inner nature and sleep with him. She did the same thing with Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) when she thought T.J. was ghosting her, although she regretted it when she learned that T.J. had been the victim of a kidnapping.

Is it a good idea?

Molly and T.J. could be so estranged that she might seek out the comfort of Dex simply because she doesn’t really know him. His lack of preconceived notions would be enticing to her, and she might simply want to lean on him. In that situation, the more they see each other to talk, the greater the chance there is that they’ll fall into bed together.

But considering what Dex and Molly have to lose with their respective partners, an affair would be disastrous. Dex is ruled by loyalty and honor, which most likely would negate any advances that Molly might make. Molly is vulnerable right now, and if she does flirt with him, it’ll be a moment of weakness for her. Dex would never take advantage of someone so vulnerable, so in the end, it’s probably not a good idea for them to venture into affair territory.
