When Daniel Goddard makes his General Hospital debut this week, his role will be a far cry from Cane Ashby, The Young and the Restless' con man-turned-businessman he brought to life for over a decade. This time, he will play a college professor in whom the WSB has taken a special interest.

Daniel Goddard is 'blown away'

Ahead of his debut on Tuesday, Goddard has posted a message for his fans, the people he credits most for his soap opera success.

"I want you to know how grateful I am since I announced on Friday I am joining the cast of General Hospital," the actor shared in an Instagram video. "I've received such an outpouring of just complete and total love and just kindness and just messages...I'm blown away."

"You guys have always been there for me since day one, and you've never let me down, and I'll never let you down," he continued. "You are my ride and dies, and this is a two-way street, so April 15th, General Hospital, ABC, Professor Henry Dalton. Class will be in session, and you better be there."

Goddard posted another video of himself two days earlier, quietly walking through the GH halls and out into the ABC parking lot where he revealed the General Hospital sign. He captioned it, "1,973 days later," which coincides with around how long the actor has been away from soaps. He exited Y&R in 2019 after Cane left town to try to recover Devon's fortune. Fans never heard from him again.

A new General Hospital mystery

Goddard is coming onto the GH scene just as a big story is heating up at Port Charles University. Brand-new novice WSB agent Josslyn Jacks is no longer a college student. Instead, she is posing as one who just enrolled in Professor Henry Dalton's environmental physics class. She just doesn't know why but seems alarmed to have Henry Dalton as her teacher.

Goddard told TV Insider that he is enjoying the mystery surrounding the role, as well as his scenes with his new "student," Josslyn Jacks.

"I think she’s fantastic," he said. With Josslyn, it’s professor and student, and a great push and pull there."

We will soon learn exactly what the WSB has in store for Josslyn and the professor, but we're sure it won't be an easy ride for either one of them.
