In June 2024, General Hospital’s Michael Easton and his character Dr. Hamilton Finn left the show. Finn’s daughter Violet (Jophielle Love) stayed with her uncle, detective Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) for a while. Finn had a substance abuse issue and had gone off to rehab. When he was released off-screen, the character moved to another city and requested that Violet join him, which she did. Fans were sad to see both actors depart, but they can catch Love in another project that she happily talked about on social media.
Welcome to primetime
Love wrote on Instagram, “Episode 1 of Season 3 of WILL TRENT @willtrentabc is finally out and it was pretty cool to be directed by Ramon himself! (Will Trent) Did you all enjoy?” Along with that were several pics of Love with Ramón Rodríguez, the star of the show who plays the titular character.

The pics mainly showed Love and the Will Trent crew filming at someone’s pool with Rodriguez directing, and a couple also included her co-star, Owen Trumbly. The show revolves around Trent, who is a special agent for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and has amazing powers of perception that help him to solve nearly all the crimes he investigates.
Love and Trumbly play siblings Cooper and Max Ormewood, respectively. Their father is Michael Ormewood, a homicide detective for the Atlanta Police Department who is portrayed by series regular Jake McLaughlin. Love has been recurring on the show since its first season in 2023.
A fan with the Instagram handle @sprinkles_lorelai wrote, “Miss u so much on GH. Really hope ur character can come back to visit everyone in Port Charles. The show needs that special joy that only u can bring.” In fact, many of Love’s followers wished for her to return to General Hospital, and she reacted: “Thank you, everyone. I miss you all too! ❤️.”
The fans were bittersweet in their comments because they simultaneously loved her on Will Trent and missed her on GH, but many were able to separate from the soap and focus on her primetime gig. @dsturgeon55 praised the series, responding, “I just love this show! Great actors and storylines. @jophiellelove great seeing you in the show!👏👏.” @rodriguezramon felt the same way, commenting, “You were so great @jophiellelove!! Thank you for being such a pro 🙏🏼.”
Whether or not Love will eventually return to General Hospital is anyone’s guess, but we’re hoping she does and soon! (Find out here what Love misses the most about GH.)
