General Hospital viewers and fans of actor Emma Samms (Holly Sutton Scorpio) will be happy to know that she is returning to Port Charles to resume her role. Last seen in 2023, Holly saved the world with Anna and Scott, helped take down Victor Cassadine, tried to make it work with Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers), and then left for Australia to search for Ethan, her son with Luke Spencer.

Holly has come and gone several times from General Hospital. Last year’s appearance was meant to be short-term, as part of ABC's 60th anniversary celebration.

Emma Samms's return is one of a few to General Hospital this summer

As usual, the show isn’t giving much information about any of the returns, their potential storylines, or what their presence could mean for others in Port Charles. Regardless, some long-time viewers are happy that one of their favorite characters (and actors) is coming back.

Can’t wait to have Holly back. I love Holly and Robert, but also when Holly‘s around there is always something interesting going on - GH fan, Kacey942 on the SoapCentral.com boards

There is no word yet on what—or who—brings Holly back to General Hospital, but the timing will coincide with the August return of Jonathan Jackson as Lucky Spencer (also Luke’s son). Rick Hearst will also reprise his GH role as Ric Lansing that same month. As for seeing Emma Samms as Holly, expect her to arrive in Port Charles this September.

Emma Samms suffers from long Covid

Samms has been sharing her battle with long COVID since contracting it in March 2020. Her blog post explains the pains she goes through with daily living, and with balancing how much to share with good-intentioned well-wishers.

“Do I just say ‘Thanks,’ or do I tell you about the chest pain I’m experiencing but haven’t mentioned? Do I explain that the tinnitus in my ears means that I’m often lip-reading what you say?” - Emma Samms in her blog about long COVID.

Samms writes how she used to be fit and this “hobbled lifestyle” doesn’t suit her. “I resent that my brain is now preoccupied with calculations of what requires the most energy and how to avoid it,” she explains.

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
