On General Hospital, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) seems to be coming apart at the seams. She’s had quite a stressful year, and it’s only getting worse as we head into 2025. When she and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) teamed up to rescue Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) they were faced with a formidable foe in Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). Trapped in his camp in Somalia, the two were about to be executed and in the short time leading up to that, Anna realized their fate was sealed. She became emotional, and Jason had to calm her down as she started to come unglued, thinking there was no way out.
The pressure is mounting for Anna
Fortunately, Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) of the WSB sent out a drone airstrike that tipped the scales for Jason and Anna, allowing them to escape with Lucky and Holly Sutton (Emma Samms). That was the first time we ever saw her throw her hands in the air and accept that she’d been defeated and was most certainly going to die.

Currently, she’s not only trying to find Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and his daughter Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) because the girl’s mother Lulu Falconeri (Alexa Havins) has emerged from her four-year-long coma. At the same time, Anna’s dealing with the deaths of Sam McCall (ex-Kelly Monaco) and Dex Heller (ex-Evan Hofer) because it seems that foul play was the cause. She’s also overcome with guilt because she feels she coerced Dex into becoming a police officer, and he died in the line of duty.
Despite claiming she would put her former friend, mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), in jail if she had any evidence of him committing a crime, she turned around and did exactly what Sonny does: she used Jason as her enforcer and had him grab lawyer Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) so they could interrogate him without anyone else knowing. This is exactly the kind of tactic she claimed she wanted to stop Sonny from trying to do.
With these two major cases on her plate, she later asked Jason to take the reigns on finding Valentin, as if Jason was her personal lieutenant, again, much like Sonny. He’s not a cop, and he’s not deputized in any way, so why is she sending the most lethal hitman in Port Charles to do her dirty work?
With more tears, when she asked Jason to take on this mission, she started to unravel again. He finally explained to her that it was Dex’s choice to join the police force, and she needed to stop having pity parties for herself.
Anna’s emotions are at an all-time high, and she’s making decisions based on those feelings, not logic. Sooner or later, the pressure is going to reach a boiling point, and something bad happens. Either Anna will have a full-on meltdown, or she’ll make the wrong choice that would cause her true guilt if someone was harmed by her decision.
Perhaps Jason needs to kiss her again, like he did in Somalia, to calm her down and bring her back to Earth.
