It's been 11 years since Scott Reeves was part of the General Hospital scene as Steven Lars Webber, Heather Webber's beloved first-born son. On October 24, Reeves made his triumphant GH return, something he never expected just a few months ago.
Scott Reeves gets a surprising call
Reeves has been living in Nashville, TN, for the last decade after a successful soap opera career. Reeves began his daytime tenure playing Jake Hogensen on Days of our Lives in 1988. During that time Reeves met his wife, Melissa Brennan (now Reeves), who has played Jennifer Horton Deveraux on and off since 1985.

In 1991, he debuted as Ryan McNeil on The Young and the Restless and remained on the CBS soap for 10 years. Eight years later, Reeves landed on GH, where he brought Steven to life until 2013.
Despite being away from Los Angeles and soaps, Reeves has remained a part of the entertainment industry and has been managing his cousin's country duo known as The Reeves Brothers. While on tour, Reeves received a fateful phone call.
"We were on a tour bus, and it was early morning, and everyone’s asleep in the back and I was in the front, in the passenger seat, and we were on our way to a show somewhere in the Midwest with a country artist named Craig Morgan," Reeves explained to Soap Opera Digest. "My phone rings, and I looked down, and it says Frank Valentini [GH’s executive producer]. And I’m like, ‘What in the world is Frank calling me about?'"
Reeves picked up, not realizing his life was about to change.
"'I pick up the phone and I was like, 'Frank, what in the world?'" Reeves recounted. "We talked and just caught up for a minute and then he said, 'First of all, are you around in September?' And I looked at my calendar and said, 'Yeah, I am.' And he said, 'Well, I had this idea… and he proceeded to tell me his [storyline] idea. It’s funny, because over the past 10 years, we’ve stayed in contact, and I’ve texted with Frank back and forth and I’d say, ‘Hey, is there a parole hearing anytime soon?'"
General Hospital's Steven and Heather reunite
As GH fans know, Steven's mother, Heather Webber, just learned she was being released from prison despite her serial killing spree in 2022. Ric was able to prove that Heather's actions were a result of cobalt poisoning, so now mother and son are free from their lives behind bars.
Elizabeth told Terry that Steven was now free but living in Sedona. However, she was pleasantly surprised when Steven turned up in Port Charles.
When Reeves returned to the GH set to bring Steven to life once again, he loved catching up with old co-stars like Rick Hearst and Maurice Benard. Reeves also shared a reunion with Steve Burton, one of his fellow musicians in the band Port Chuck.
Reeves even got to meet and work with Alley Mills, who took over the role of Heather. Robin Mattson played the character during Reeves' first time on GH.
"That was an incredible treat for me," Reeves said. "I grew up [watching] her and she’s just amazing. I had so much fun again. She is a hoot! She’s hilarious and such a great actress and she really ate this role up."
What drama will Steven's return bring to Port Charles now that he is back? Stay tuned to find out.
