How General Hospital’s Maurice Benard and Steve Burton really feel about each other

General Hospital’s Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Jason (Steve Burton) have been friends for decades, although, like any friendship, they’ve hit a few bumps in the road along the way. Recently, Jason assured Sonny he has his back no matter what, and at the end of the day they have a brotherly bond that can’t be broken. In real life, the actors took to social media to share the depth of their friendship.

Together, they’re a dynamic duo

General Hospital star Steve Burton shared a pic of him and Maurice Benard talking and smiling in the back hallway of the ABC studio on Instagram. Burton captioned it, “So Grateful for @mauricebenard, The 🐐.” In this instance, the goat has two meanings: Benard is well-known for his pet named Buddy the Goat, and in popular vernacular ‘GOAT’ stands for ‘God of All Things.’

Benard responded in turn with, “So grateful for Steve Burton🎚️.” Accompanying the photo was the song Lean on Me by Bill Withers, which illustrates that the two aren’t just friends on-screen, but also in real life. Many fans responded that they love both actors equally. @maria4eva76 called it like she saw it with the loving comment, “The dynamic DUO!!! Burton’s real-life love, Michelle Lundstrom, responded, “The sweetest friendship ❤️🥹.” @jannalinn19 echoed many of the sentiments with, “We are grateful for you both! You are fantastic humans and a dream to watch on GH! ❤️.” @tovar_s_mora explained it perfectly by writing, “The magic Maurice & Steve made on GH, ultimate brotherhood, unbreakable loyalty, greatest friendship in history of TV.” Even when Jason returned from the dead and turned out to be working for the FBI under duress, and Sonny turned his back on him, Port Charles’ greatest hitman was still on Team Sonny all the way.
