General Hospital's Dex Heller has undergone quite a character transformation this year and begins a new journey this week when his former boss is under fire.

Undercover Dex Heller

When GH fans first met Dex Heller in 2022, he was a former military man just hired by Sonny Corinthos as his new right hand after Jason Morgan was presumed dead. The audience soon learned Dex was a hired mercenary working undercover for Sonny's estranged son Michael, who wanted Dex to find enough evidence to send Michael's mobster dad to jail.

Dex remained under both Sonny's and Michael's employ until February but switched gears along the way. After Carly learned about Michael's plan, she took her son to task and had Michael change Dex's mission. Rather than bring Sonny down, Dex was to be Carly and Michael's eyes and ears to protect Sonny.

In February, Sonny finally figured out what was going on and took Dex to the Pine Barrens to kill him. Carly came to Dex's rescue, so Sonny only ordered Dex to leave town. When Dex returned just a few weeks later, Sonny oddly chose to leave him alone.

By spring, Anna convinced Dex to join the police academy and become one of Port Charles's finest. Anna felt Sonny would never come after Dex if Dex became a cop. After months of training, Dex has graduated from the police academy and is no longer a cadet. He is now a full-fledged cop—just as Sonny becomes a main suspect in John Cates's murder.

As the September 6 GH episode ended, Dex's first field job as a new cop was to help Anna when she questioned Sonny about a missing gun. However, as a cadet, he had witnessed Alexis' rage at John when John arrested Kristina in an effort to use her as a pawn to get to Sonny. When Chase told Dex that Alexis had been seen tossing a gun into the river, Dex let Chase know about Alexis' heated words hours before the agent was found shot dead.

According to GH's official X (formerly Twitter), Dex is about to have quite a time during his first full week on the job.

"Dex's first week as an officer at the PCPD is bound to be a memorable one," a tweet read. "Don't miss a second of the drama as the investigation into Jagger's murder puts everyone in Sonny's orbit on edge."

By the end of the week, an arrest is set to be made. Will Dex be responsible for putting his former boss behind bars, or does Alexis end up in trouble with the law again? Welcome to the PCPD, Dex, because it's bound to be a wild ride.
