The tension has been high on General Hospital lately. Josslyn (Eden McCoy) found her way to Cyrus’ (Jeff Kober) secret cabin, uncovering the hospital bracelets from all the patients he’s killed. When Cyrus showed up wielding an axe, Joss had no recourse but to shoot the villain dead. Thankfully, Brennan (Chris McKenna) stepped in and had the WSB clean the place and get rid of the body. Now Joss is reeling from her actions and Jason (Steve Burton) has been named a suspect because two of his hairs were found at the otherwise clean scene. McCoy opened up about how the story was presented to her.

She knew a lot

General Hospital’s Eden McCoy spoke with Soap Opera Digest about Joss and Cyrus’ final showdown. “I just took it kind of moment by moment, scene by scene, because you need to build up to the climax of the shootout,” she remarked. But for McCoy, that buildup was enhanced because she knew far in advance that her character would be the one to end the murderer’s life.

She explained, “I found out that Josslyn would be killing Cyrus at the same time I found out that [Joss’s love interest] Dex [Evan Hofer] was getting killed off…So I’ve known for a really long time.” The outlet noted that most soaps, including General Hospital, keep plot points a secret from everyone, including the actors, until they absolutely have to reveal things when they give the shooting scripts to the performers.

McCoy stated that knowing so far in advance helped amp up her excitement for the General Hospital scenes. She added, “I was just super honored that [the powers-that-be at GH] thought I should be the one to end Cyrus’s reign of terror.” Although several characters, including Jason, had good reason to dispatch the evildoer, having Joss do it makes sense because of the intense heartbreak when her boyfriend Dex was not only stabbed by Cyrus but later overdosed with Digitalis.

But she found the burden of knowing she would be offing Cyrus to be bittersweet because of the admiration she has for Kober. “I adore him,” she stated, adding, “and it was a bittersweet thing, killing Cyrus, because obviously, that was Jeff’s last day. But it was special to be a part of that, just because I think he’s so fabulous.” She praised his acting when she noted that he’s super sweet as himself but then can switch on the scary when he gets into character.

She further explained that shooting those climactic scenes “was a little overwhelming, but mostly just exciting.” But now that Jason has been accused of making Cyrus disappear, the question is whether or not Joss will come clean to exonerate him. (Find out what Kober thought of Cyrus' swan song.)
