The L.A. wildfires in January devastated quite a few neighborhoods, and many stars and other residents were horribly affected by it. Some of the soap stars who lost their homes included The Young and the Restless’ Eric Braeden (Victor) and Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea). General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison (Drew) was also among those left without a house. Thankfully, a long list of celebrities from Eva Longoria to Halle Berry stepped up to help their fellow Californians through the unspeakable tragedy.
The goal is to rebuild

Access Hollywood did a post-wildfire interview with Mathison recently and asked him how he was doing. “It's been oddly one of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with,” he said, adding, “It's been a hard thing to express to people. They probably have an idea that it's difficult, but it's where I raised my kids; it's where my kids wanted to raise their kids.”
The video report depicted a side-by-side comparison of Mathison’s home before the fire and after it was razed to the ground. The narrator remarked that Mathison’s “goal is to rebuild.” The General Hospital star lamented, “Every little single thing that I've ever owned, every piece of evidence of my life and my kids' life was lost in that house.”
He continued to explain that his family wasn’t the only one to go through it and that he and his family would get through it. He stated that he was grateful for many things, and his heart went out to other victims. “It has been like more devastating than I actually thought it would be,” he remarked, but still vowed to stay strong.
Friends will be friends

Amidst GH clips, Mathison listed off everything he was grateful for, which included his and his family’s health, their homeowners insurance, and his co-workers. “My GH family has been phenomenal,” he remarked, continuing, “I'm looking at somebody that sort of snuck in some gifts for me too at one point when she shouldn't.”
That person turned out to be Cynthia Watros (Nina), who surreptitiously left behind a gift he was unaware of. Watros stated, “Well, you know, I think in the studio we had so many people affected. We all were in this together. Unfortunately, Cameron had to go through what he went through, but we're there for him.”
Mathison responded, “And that made tons of difference. It’s unbelievable the love and support and kindness and generosity that's been given to myself and thousands of others going through it.
He ended by stating, “The love is real.”
