Now that Lucky is back in Port Charles, ready to save Lulu's life, Genie Francis is bringing Laura back to General Hospital.
Genie Francis' General Hospital break is over
Francis takes a summer vacation from GH each year. This year, Laura's absence was explained by a search for Lucky. Laura and Kevin took off for Africa in search of her prodigal son but never made it to the compound where Sidwell was holding Lucky.
Instead, Anna and Jason rescued Lucky, while Laura and Kevin remained MIA. Finally, Laura and her husband return to Port Charles next week on Wednesday, October 9, according to Soap Opera Digest.

Laura's big reunion
When Francis and Laura appear on our screens, it will be the first time she has shared scenes with Jonathan Jackson's Lucky in nearly a decade. During Jackson's 2015 stint, he only returned for a handful of episodes. This will be the first extended storyline the two performers have shared together this century.
Jackson joined the GH cast in 1993 at just eleven years old but left the soap in 1999 when Lucky was presumed dead. Jacob Young played Lucky from 2000 to 2003, and Greg Vaughan played him from 2003 to 2009. After Vaughan left, Jackson returned and played Lucky again until 2011. At the time, Francis wasn't a part of the GH cast.
When Francis first heard that Jackson would be reprising Lucky, she took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her joy.
"Dear sweet Jonathan Jackson, this show is so lucky to have you back," she wrote. "I am overjoyed! Can’t wait to work with you again."
Jackson has also said that working with Francis again is one of the reasons he chose to return to GH.
"Her being here was a huge part in wanting to come back," Jackson told Entertainment Tonight in August.
When Laura returns, she will finally reunite with her son and pray that a portion of his liver can help save her daughter. Lulu has been in a coma since 2020, but the role was recently recast with All My Children alum Alexa Havins (ex-Babe Carey). The assumption is that Lulu will finally emerge from her coma after her transplant.
Now, all Laura needs is for her other son, Nikolas, to be sprung from jail, and her family reunion will finally be complete.
