General Hospital fans were left reeling at the end of the September 26th episode when Jason suddenly grabbed Anna and...kissed her.
Finola Hughes didn't see it coming
The surprising buss brought social media to life with fans wondering if this was all part of an undercover plan or if this was the real deal. Even if the kiss was part of a ruse, the look Anna and Jason gave each other just before it happened made things seem very real.
While Finola Hughes was excited to learn her adventure-addicted character would be going on a caper with Jason, she wasn't prepared for the twist that had super spy Anna Devane locking lips with mob enforcer Jason Morgan.

"I think it’s something that just happens," Hughes told Soap Opera Digest. "It was a bit of a shock. I wasn’t sure where it was coming from."
Hughes and Steve Burton, who played Jason, discussed the development at length to get the scene right.
"The situation is very dire and it’s really interesting because both Jason and Anna have been in these circumstances before," she continued. "So, we tried to figure out, within that, ways to try to play with our own psyches as to how we were coping with what was going on. We discussed all sorts of things because, you know, it’s not their first barbecue! But there is something different about these circumstances, and luckily, we were working with an actor [Carlo Rota, Sidwell] whose [believability] was very helpful in all of that, in it seeming like we were going to die, more so than in other situations."
General Hospital fans are left reeling
After the kiss aired, GH fans took to social media in shock. Despite Anna and Jason growing closer since his return in March, many saw their relationship as nothing more than a friendship. Plus, there's the inconvenient fact that Jason Morgan's first love was Anna's daughter, Robin.
Robin had a crush on Jason Quartermaine while in high school. After the car accident that left him brain damaged with no memory, Jason Q morphed into Jason Morgan. He took on his grandmother Lila's maiden name and fell in love with Robin, a girl who had just lost her boyfriend to AIDS and learned she was HIV positive.
Jason and Robin's young romance was legendary, but fans seem to hope Jason and Anna's kiss is not and that it will become nothing but a distant memory soon.
"I could've gone my entire life without seeing Jason and Anna kiss," @bellainamorata6 wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "I can't even begin to put into words how unnecessary a move this is. Just...no."
While some fans pointed out the age difference between Jason and Anna, the Robin factor was the biggest problem many had with the kiss and any potential fallout.
"It's not even an age thing. It’s a ROBIN thing," pointed out X user @Shugatweet. "Jason was in high school while Anna was grown running around with Luke, Holly and Robert. It’s tainted the Jason/Robin years. Maybe it’s her twin cause I don’t see Anna acting on that. At least not the Anna that’s been on 30 years."
Will Jason and Anna's kiss lead to a full-fledged romance? Stay tuned to find out.
