General Hospital star Chris McKenna's Carly and Jack picture-perfect throwback

Chris McKenna has stepped into the role of General Hospital's Jack Brennan with ease while reuniting with an old friend from his soap days long ago.

Teenage dreams

Carly and Jack's romance just started heating up when McKenna made his debut as a recast Jack after Charles Mesure opted to leave the role. Carly and Jack's romance has been going along smoothly ever since, following a year long slow burn in which fans didn't know if they'd ever get together.

McKenna is no stranger to soaps after playing One Life to Live's Joey Buchanan during his teenage years. He had a home in Llanview from the time he was 13 until he was 16, where he mingled with fellow ABC soap stars. At the time, All My Children, One Life to Live, and Loving were all filmed in the same Manhattan area in New York City.

One of the stars of Loving during the early 1990s was Laura Sisk, who played young heroine Ally Rescott. Today, Sisk is known as Laura Wright, who has been bringing Carly to life for nearly 20 years.

When McKenna was first approached about playing Jack, he couldn't believe he'd get to work with Wright.

"I got word late on a Sunday night that [Executive Producer] Frank Valentini wanted me to chemistry read with Laura Wright," McKenna told TV Insider. "I know Laura, but I hadn’t seen her in 30 years, so I said, 'Well, of course, I’ll be there.' On Tuesday, I went in, and Laura saw me in the hallway and ran over. We hugged and said hello and we caught up really quick and she wished me luck. The last time I saw her, I think she was the pitcher and I was the catcher at a Make-A-Wish softball game in 1994. So, it was trippy."

General Hospital star memories

Recently, McKenna shared a photo of himself and Wright from all those years ago. The photo was from 1993 and features teenage McKenna with young adult Wright.

Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the snap, commenting, "Ohhhh my God."

McKenna replied to McCoy, saying, "Forgot to show you the other day. Thought you'd get a kick out of that." Wright also saw the photo and McCoy's comments and could only laugh.

Currently, Carly is oblivious to the fact that Jack has been guiding her daughter Josslyn right into danger with Cyrus Renault. When she finds out, will that put a kink in her romance with the WSB agent?
