Although General Hospital’s Drew Quartermaine will most certainly end up on Santa’s naughty list this year, his portrayer, Cameron Mathison, has been quite nice and productive. The actor has been spreading Christmas cheer, not just through his holiday films but also by attending two Christmas-themed conventions. He recently attended the Great American Family Christmas Festival at the Northwell Park UBS Arena, Belmont Park, New York. Later, he appeared at the Christmas Con, held at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison, New Jersey, and had some things to say about the latest goings on in his life.
He’s a Christmas original
At Christmas Con, Digital Journal reported on what the actors attending discussed, including General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison, who declared, “I am a Christmas Con OG,” meaning he was one of the original actors in holiday films to attend. This year was the 5th anniversary of the event.

For Mathison, the conventions are a huge part of his enjoyment of the season. “Being here and seeing everybody…seeing the viewers and the fans,” he gushed, adding that hanging out with the other actors was a plus because they feel like family for him. Having attended all five years so far, he added to his list of favorite things to do.
And adding to the thrill of not only cavorting with his Christmas movie castmates, Mathison was also thrilled to reunite with an old soap opera scene partner, Melissa Claire Egan, who currently plays Chelsea Lawson on The Young and the Restless. But the two were quite the pair when they acted together on the defunct soap All My Children.
Mathison was Ryan Lavery, and Egan played Annie Novak. The two were married on the show, but Annie’s sanity started to slip away. Mathison added to the crazy storylines, remarking, “We were married on ‘All My Children,’ and then I got shot in the head, and then I forgot who she was … but stuff happens on a soap opera.” But he was happy to see Egan again, noting, “I am thrilled to be reunited with my All My Children co-star Melissa Claire Egan; she is my girl! I love her.”
The General Hospital star also stated that while both Christmas conventions he attended had “different kinds of dynamics,” they both successfully merged the stars and the fans effectively. Speaking of the fans, Mathison explained how an actor and a fan couldn’t exist without the other, and praised the loyalty of his fans, stating, “The fans are responsible for the life that we have.”
