"We are safe," he began. "But this is what’s left of our beautiful home. Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday. Thanks to all who reached out and checked in. Can’t respond to all so wanted to give an update here. Sending so many prayers to everyone being affected by these fires."

According to the Los Angeles Times, Mathison and his ex-wife Vanessa purchased the Spanish Colonial home in 2012. It was originally built back nearly a century ago, in 1928.

Mathison's fellow soap stars and Hallmark co-stars quickly replied with their condolences for Mathison's loss.

"My darling Cam, I am so sorry," Finola Hughes (Anna Devane, GH) wrote. "I am so sorry. I am thankful you are all safe."

"Oh, I'm so sorry to hear, my dear friend. Thank God you are all safe," Laura Wright (Carly Spencer, GH) replied.

Days of our Lives star Alison Sweeney, whom Mathison has worked with on several Hallmark movies, also commented. "I am so sorry, Cam. This is just devastating to see. Sending you and your family love and prayers," she said.

Others who sent well wishes included Kelly Thiebaud (ex-Britt Westbourne, GH), Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli, GH), and Cady McClain (ex-Dixie Cooney, All My Children.)

Mathison is not the only soap star to report on the wildfires since they began. GH alum Vanessa Marcil was forced to evacuate her home and said it took her and her family three hours to reach the Pacific Coast Highway.

The Young and the Restless' Eric Braeden shared a video of the fire in the hills behind his house, illustrating how close the blaze was to his property.

Since the morning of January 7, four different wildfires have broken out in the Los Angeles area, leading President Joe Biden to declare a national disaster state of emergency in California. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), founded by President Jimmy Carter, has already dispersed aid to the area.

The multiple fires, fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, had claimed two lives and displaced more than 50,000 California residents as of Wednesday afternoon.
