At a press conference about the esplanade, Ezra Boyle (Daniel Cosgrove) asks enough questions for the press to put Laura (Genie Francis) on the spot about her relationship with Sonny. Laura and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) had planned for this press conference to go south in their bid to fire Jordan so she could work for Sidwell, so the women need to put on a good show.

Little do some smarmy politicians know that the mayor and deputy mayor are onto them and up to something, but will it backfire? Boyle and Drew (Cameron Mathison) are determined to make Laura look bad and even have the assistant district attorney on their side.

Portia's warning

Portia (Brook Kerr) fears what Drew wants from Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) and feels it's her job to keep Kai from making a big mistake. Although the surgery Kai wants looks promising, Portia knows that everything Drew touches goes sour of late. To that end, she tells Kai not to have the surgery, but he doesn't seem to care.

Kai tells Trina (Tabyana Ali) he is going to have the surgery no matter what, which just sends alarm bells through Trina's head. She knows as well as her parents do that Drew is up to no good, but Kai doesn't feel the same. Drew wants to help him play football again, and Kai is not about to give up his dream because his girlfriend and her parents tell him not to.

Suspicious Sonny

Sonny (Maurice Benard) is taking note of every coincidence involving Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) as the man seems to be everywhere these days with so many things tying back to him, including the hitman Jason (Steve Burton) just killed.

Learning that Natalia (Eva LaRue) was once married to him makes Sonny more suspicious, but when he learns that Marco (Adran Anchondo) is now working for Miller & Davis, it leaves Sonny reeling. Sidwell's son is now technically his lawyer. Sonny makes sure to expose the fact that Marco is Sidwell's son to Diane (Carolyn Hennesy). Will she change her mind about hiring Marco based on this news?
