General Hospital's Wally Kurth performs the first song he ever learned on guitar

As fans of General Hospital’s Wally Kurth know, he’s an impressive musician. Over the years, the man who plays Ned Quartermaine on the show has released a few CDs and played and sang on GH, especially at the Nurses' Ball. He’s been posting videos on social media, sharing his talented guitar skills and great voice with his fans. Recently, he posted a video where he plays guitar to one of the first songs he ever learned.

He began at the beginning

On Instagram, General Hospital’s Wally Kurth wrote:

BIRDS by Neil Young. Revisiting songs is like running into an old friend and picking up where you left off. #bekind #songoftheweek #11/15/24.

Accompanying that post was a video of him playing the song, and he stated:

Neil Young has been one of my favorite artists over the years.

I first heard him in the After the Gold Rush album. I was really quite young.

My older sister bought the album. But it was just a phenomenal album and lots of folk songs, but also some rockers and his interesting voice.

Anyway, when I first started playing the guitar way back when I was 19, this is one of the first songs that I sort of taught myself from the Neil Young songbook.

Anyway, it's called Birds.

@jordanjanceski, a fan from Australia, was moved by Kurth’s song, especially because his father used to whistle tunes, and Kurth whistles at the end of his performance. The Follower wrote a long passage about how the song affected him and ended with:
