General Hospital's Sawandi Wilson stars in new Spanish-language film

Sawandi Wilson has quickly become the new General Hospital fan favorite as Dr. Isaiah Gannon, who facilitated Lulu Falconeri’s (Alexa Havins) liver transplant. The good doctor also has great chemistry with Deputy Mayor Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper), and the two may have a future as a super couple if the stories go their way. He might even be instrumental in getting to the bottom of who killed Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) with an overdose of digitalis. But with all that drama going on, Wilson’s also had other irons in the fire and recently shared news about a brand new film he’s in.

He’s got to fight for his inheritance

On Instagram, General Hospital’s Sawandi Wilson and Cine Dominicano Reporte shared a post for his new film, El Heredero: “Have you seen the performance of the actor @sawandiwilson in the Dominican comedy @elherederopelicula 👀🎬🤩. And what more reasons do you need to see #ElHeredero when you have @sawandiwilson on the big screen?😍.”

The post also explained when and where the film can be seen by adding, “Now showing in the Dominican Republic.🍿🥤⁣. Premiere👇⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣- January 2 in Puerto Rico⁣⁣ and the Caribbean Islands⁣. January 17 in the United States⁣⁣⁣.”

The title translates as The Heir, and according to IMDb, “A family in serious debt trouble find themselves between an abusive creditor and a nephew with a large inheritance.” Although a major character, Wilson’s credit as Joh Rivera is last on that site. But, the film’s YouTube trailer expands the description further as: “John, a U.S. Marine, discovers he has inherited a fortune. Traveling to fulfill his father's last will, he encounters an unknown family, an unexpected love, and a fight over the inheritance. Caught up in a culture clash and a conflict with a loan shark, John must decide between his new life and his military past.”

The film was directed by Frank Perozo, who has acted in several films since 1997 and has also helmed 2021’s La Vida de los Reyes, Colao (2017) and Colao 2 (2023), as well as 2024’s Perdiendo el Juicio about two rival lawyers who must work together, among several other movies.

The film co-stars several major Spanish-speaking stars, including Miguel Cespedes, Raymond Pozo, Marko, Caroline Aquino, Rosmery Herrand, Carolina Rivas, Yubelkis Peralta, Angel Dior, and Carlos Montesquieu.

The consensus of Instagram and Wilson fans agreed, “Ta buenisimo 😂,” which means, “It’s so good.” And General Hospital fans will be excited to see Wilson in a non-English film that seems to be an edge-of-your-seat good time!
