General Hospital star Rena Sofer (Lois) has been an avid dog lover and rescuer over the years. She recently shared a special animal rescue message in the aftermath of the notorious L.A. wildfire about pets who were displaced because of the disaster. In 2024, she also shared the heartbreaking news of the death of one of her family members, her pooch named Alfie. Now she’s got a positive message about the latest dog-related happening in her household.
General Hospital's Rena Sofer answered the call
Sofer took to Instagram to pen the message, “ANOTHER SUNDAY FREEDOM RIDE!!! When @lisachiarelli calls, we do our best to come running! It’s been a tough week for us (me and @sbookstaver ), and we thought we’d just have a lazy Sunday, but when 5 puppies (6-7 weeks old) were dumped in a cardboard box and left all alone, we jumped at the chance to transport 2 to the rescue! The other three went to a different rescue. ALL ARE SAFE.”
She continued by noting that the doggies were “JUJU (the boy) and Bee (the girl), and they are resting with their foster (NOT US) and will be available for adoption in a couple of weeks!!! The cuteness was incredible
The General Hospital star also shared three videos in her post. In the first one, she was in her car and stated, “So it's just a regular Sunday and Sandy and I got a call from Lisa, Chiarelli from Frankie Lola and Friends to possibly transport a couple of puppies. Uhhhh…sure?” She panned her camera over to reveal a small playpen with two adorable pups in it. She gushed, “Oh my goodness gracious! Hellooooooo! Who's going to be on my lap?”
The second video was shot from outside of an animal rescue center looking in, and we saw an employee bring out the two pups to Sofer. The actress couldn’t stop making cutesy noises as she petted the snuggly pups. “Where are you going?” she said to one that seemed to climb the worker’s shoulder, and added, “You're a big boy. Do you want to come to me?”
In the third clip, someone else was recording, and we saw Sofer and her husband, Sandy (aka Sanford Bookstaver, each holding a pup and gushing over them. Sandy stated to the one he was holding, “You're free, you know.”
