General Hospital’s Parry Shen has been sharing some highly entertaining videos on social media and kept busy doing a lot of voiceover work in the past few years. A fan favorite, Shen is also often a guest at conventions and fan events. He recently posted about a horror convention that he’ll be attending because he’s been part of a successful slasher film franchise, and he showed fans some cool collectibles.
He had some great horror film trading cards
General Hospital’s Parry Shen (Brad Cooper), who recently returned to the show, previously appeared in the 2006 horror film Hatchet, alongside genre legend Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, 1988). Here, Shen played Shawn, a haunted swamp tour boat driver who, along with the tourists, end up being terrorized by a madman in the swamps of New Orleans. He subsequently appeared in the sequel Hatchet II (2010), playing a character named Justin, Shawn’s twin brother. He also starred in Hatchet III (2013) and the fourth film, Victor Crowley (2017), playing a character named Andrew Yong who was a paramedic.
With October, the wonderfully scary season, coming up, Shen excitedly wrote on Instagram:

Happy Sunday! Let’s see what pulls I make from this newly opened pack of Hatchet trading cards! 😏I’ll also have these cards & more when I’m at ScareFest Oct 18-20 in Lexington, KY with the Hatchet family from all 4 films & GH’s Rick Hearst! Hope to see you there!
In the video, Shen reiterated the info in the caption, and gave out information on where to buy the tickets. As a list of attendees scrolled up the screen, Shen noted that at least 15 people from the Hatchet films would be there, as well as General Hospital’s Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing).
He went through the deck of trading cards, showing ones from Hatchet, Hatchet III, and the fourth film called Victor Crowley, and was excited when he came across a card with his image on it with the caption:
Who’s ready ta do some hauntin’?!?
He had previously autographed it, and then carefully slipped it into two protective plastic sleeves. Shen then read a piece of trivia from the back of the card:
Did you know: Parry’s first child was scheduled to be born during filming so he had a clause in his contract allowing him to leave set for the occasion. Luckily, Baby Avery came five weeks early. [He then remarked,] Cool. Awesome.
He found even more cool stuff
Shen continued through the pack, past some duplicates, and hilariously found a baseball card, wondering how that got in there. He also found an enamel pin with his image on it and the words, “I, Survivor”—a tribute to his character Andrew Yong in the Hatchet films, which is an item that’s also found at his website.
The General Hospital star and indie film producer also came across a card from Hatchet II with his tortured-looking face on it, and the caption:
Sometimes Life’s A…Grind.
Shen had also autographed that one, but with gold ink, as he explained:
It’s signed in gold and this one is…they’re usually in silver, so this one is pretty rare. So, I’m definitely gonna take a peek on eBay when we’re done with this and see what we got...
He sleeved that one as well, then read the back:
The blood spray throughout the belt sander scene wound up staining Parry’s contact lenses red. Did you know?
He hysterically answered:
No. I did not.
Shen reminded people to visit him at ScareFest which looks to be like one heck of a time!
