General Hospital star Nicholas Alexander Chavez in new series
Nicholas Alexander Chavez, who left his role as General Hospital's Spencer Cassadine earlier this year to star in Ryan Murphy's Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, makes his debut in another Murphy series in September.
According to TV Line, Chavez will appear in the first ten-episode season of Murphy's Grotesquerie on FX. Chavez plays Father Charlie in the series that premieres on Wednesday, September 25. You can stream episodes the next day on Hulu.
Grotesquerie tells the story of Detective Lois Tryon, played by Niecy Nash-Betts, who investigates a series of small-town crimes that soon become personal. As Lois deals with a host of relationship and family problems, she meets a nun who helps her try to solve these crimes.

Grostequerie also stars Courtney B. Vance as Marshall, Raven Goodwin as Merritt, Michaela Diamond as Sister Megan, Lesley Manville as Nurse Redd, and Travis Kelce in an unnamed role.
In Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Chavez brings to life Lyle Menendez, who, along with his brother, Erik, was found guilty of murdering their parents in 1996. There is no release date set for the Netflix production as of this writing.
Chavez became an instant GH hit
Chavez quickly gained popularity when he was cast as Nikolas Cassadine's now-grown son, Spencer, in 2021. When Spencer was paired with Trina Robinson, the couple became an instant hit and enjoyed a loyal fan following with Sydney Mikayla and Tabyana Ali, the two actresses who played Trina during Chavez's run.
While Spencer and Trina enjoyed time in Paris in January, Spencer's obsessed ex Esme found them and injected Spencer with something to subdue him. Later, both Esme and Spencer went overboard into the icy waters of the Seine when Spencer jumped into action to save Trina from Esme's deadly intentions. Neither Esme nor Spencer's body was recovered, and both were presumed dead.
At the time, Chavez's status with GH was in question, as fans were unsure whether he was gone for good or taking a leave of absence from the soap. In May, Chavez took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm his official exit—for now.
"I’m so appreciative of the opportunity that GH gave me, and I wouldn’t be as busy as I am professionally if it weren’t for the talented producers, writers, directors and fellow actors,” Chavez tweeted. “Frank Valentini is a mentor and a friend, and we’ve had some pretty extensive conversations about my future on the show. While there are no current plans for me to return, we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles."
While Chavez's tweet leaves the door open for his GH return, the actor is keeping himself busy with primetime work as his Hollywood star rises.
