After a summer break, General Hospital star Maurice Benard is back with all-new episodes of his mental health podcast on Sunday, September 1—and a very special guest will be joining him.

Sarah Joy Brown, who originated the role of GH's Carly back in 1996, sits down with Benard for an intimate chat.
"WE. ARE. BACK @mbstateofmind is back with the incredible @isarahjoybrown," Benard wrote on Instagram. "We had an in-depth talk, the kind of conversation that I know will help many. Which is why she’s the first SOM back. Please come watch September 1 Sunday 10 AM PST."

Brown also took to Instagram to publicize the appearance.
"This episode will air September 1st, 2024 at 10 AM PST on @mbstateofmind," Brown wrote alongside a selfie of herself and Benard. "This one was for the girls & women in my life and yours."
Sarah Joy Brown's GH history
Brown burst onto the soap opera scene in 1996 when Carly swept into Port Charles, hellbent on seeking revenge on the mother who had given her up for adoption at birth. Carly slept with Bobbie's husband, Tony, as payback, but she and Bobbie eventually formed a strong relationship.
Brown remained on GH for five years and left in 2001 after establishing Carly as Sonny's latest love interest. During her first stint on GH, Brown earned three Daytime Emmy awards.
The actress returned to the soap in 2008 to play mafia princess Claudia Zacchara, but that role didn't last long, and she was off the soap again by 2009. Brown has also appeared on other soaps through the years, including Days of our Lives as Madison James, The Bold and the Beautiful as Aggie Jones, and As the World Turns as Julia Larrabee.
This won't be the first time Brown has sat down with Benard for an in-depth discussion about life. She was a State of Mind guest in January 2023 and used the visit to talk about her time as both Carly and Claudia. Brown shared a clip of that episode on her Instagram account.
"My time on GH was outstanding," Brown said in the clip, as she talked about all the stars she was privileged to work with, including Benard, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan), and the late Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie Spencer).
