While fans still wonder whether Kin Shriner’s Scotty Baldwin will come out of hiding (or wherever he is) on General Hospital, the actor posted a fun blast from the past on social media. His brother, Wil Shriner, is also a well-known comedian, director, actor, writer, and game show host. Kin posted a pic of their father and showed that his roots in Hollywood go far deeper than many fans are aware of.
Dad was also a famous TV show host
The father of General Hospital’s Kin Shriner and his brother Wil was Herbert Arthur "Herb" Shriner, who was a TV host, an actor, a radio personality, and a major American humorist who became famous for monologues he made about Indiana, where he grew up. Sadly, in 1970, Herb and his wife (and the boys’ mother), Eileen McDermott, were tragically killed in a car crash. Kin and Wil are twins, and after the horrible event, they went to live with their grandmother in Texas.

Shriner took to X, formerly Twitter, to post a photo with the caption, “My father got 2 for the money when my brother and I were born on his show with Dennis James, I got deep roots in TV!!!!” Kin’s known for his love of Old Hollywood, and his X page even has a picture of legendary actors Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, presumably from a poster of the film Dark Passage.
The pic in Shriner’s post was a repost from Instagram by Randall C. James and captioned, “My Pop, Dennis James with his best friend…@kinshriner & @wilshriner’s Pop, Herb Shriner & ‘The Dancing Packs’ #television #50s #gameshow.” It appeared to be an ad for the game show Two for the Money, which Herb Shriner hosted. On either side of the men are two women wearing costumes that made them look like packs of Old Gold cigarettes, one regular and one king size, with the models’ legs visible beneath the packs.
Fan Annette Nelson responded, “That is just so cool! What memories, you have lived a pretty charmed life in all areas of the entertainment world, with many more to come,” to which Kin replied, “I hope so.”
Another fan, Michael Thomas, also commented, “A very talented family! I saw your dad on an episode of What’s My Line from the 50s on YouTube. He was great.” All of the fans were blown away by Shriner’s shared memory, and some even remembered smoking Old Gold back in the day.
One fan also asked if Kin would ever host a game show himself, but as of this writing he hadn’t responded. (Find out how Shriner celebrated his 45th anniversary on GH.)
Hopefully, Shriner will return to General Hospital in the near future!
