The General Hospital teen scene has been growing dramatically, with kids like Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), Emma (Braedyn Bruner), Jake (Hudson West), and Aiden (Colin Cassidy) becoming Port Charles’ next generation. Aiden had been through some worry because when his dad Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) returned to town, after nearly two decades away, he had to reveal to his father that he was gay. Fortunately, Lucky didn’t bat an eyelash, and the two have been catching up on lost time ever since. But there’s one thing that Cassidy feels he needs to do to truly do justice to his character.
There’s another level he needs to achieve

Cassidy explained to Soap Opera Digest that he and his family celebrated when he landed the part of Aiden on General Hospital. Although nervous, he was lucky that Rebecca Herbst, who plays his TV mom, Elizabeth, took him under her wing. “Becky came right up to me and very calmly, very professionally, very lovingly, showed me the ropes of what it means to work on a soap,” he explained, adding, “She guided me through the whole process, from blocking and rehearsals to where to go for hair and makeup.”

Herbst came across to General Hospital newcomer Cassidy as a “motherly figure” who helped him on his first day at the studio, and he felt it was a big deal. He didn’t know what was expected of him, and soaps are known for their fast pace, very little rehearsal time, and pretty much one take for each scene. He further explained that his and Herbst’s bonding on the first day helped lay the foundation for what’s going to be a great TV mother/son relationship.
He also credited Giovanni Mazza (Gio) and Katelyn MacMullen (Willow) with getting him acclimated to his new working environment. He noted that MacMullen had discovered him feeling rather stressed at one point and reassured him that he was doing well and would continue to do so. He praised all of his co-stars, stating, “It’s really such an amazing cast and crew; everyone there is really incredible.”
But there’s one element to Aiden’s character that’s been prevalent ever since he was a little tyke, and Cassidy realized what he needed to do to complete the circle. He stated, “I need to step up my baking game. I’m definitely not at the level that Aiden is with baking.” Cassidy remarked that he enjoys baking in real life, but since moving to Los Angeles for General Hospital, he hasn’t baked with his mother like he often did, and his current oven is broken, so he’s vowed to have it fixed.
