It's the day General Hospital fans and the Spencer clan have been waiting for. Lulu Spencer finally emerges from her four-year coma and finds that life in Port Charles has gone on without her.
Lulu's General Hospital life has surprises
This time around, Lulu will be played by All My Children alum Alexa Havins. Julie Marie Berman and Emme Rylan previously played Lulu as an adult. This is Havins' first foray back into soaps since leaving the role of Babe Carey behind in 2011. While she wasn't expecting to have a full-time daytime television job again, Havins is embracing the opportunity.

"The writers have written some really fun things," Havins told TV Insider. "We know she’s waking up from a four-year coma, so we’ve got a lot of twists and turns, and we hit the ground running."
Lulu will certainly have much to take in as she learns what she's missed in the last four years. In addition to realizing her children are now teenagers, she discovers that Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) fell in love with Sam (Kelly Monaco) and that Sam gave her life by donating a part of her liver so Lulu could live.
Havins brings Luke and Laura's legacy to life
Playing the daughter of the most famous and consequential couples on soaps is not lost on Havins. After all, the names Luke and Laura are still synonymous with GH 43 years after their lavish wedding, which included Elizabeth Taylor as uninvited guest Helena Cassadine.
"Just being a part of that next Spencer family adventure feels very rewarding," Havins said. "To be able to be a piece of such a massively important family on the daytime canvas feels like an honor. I want to honor what Genie [Francis, Laura] and Anthony [Geary, Luke] built, to continue the story, and just give the audience what they’re wanting as far as Lulu goes."
Havins looks forward to another perk of playing Lulu Spencer. She will get to work with Michael E. Knight again. Knight famously played All My Children's Tad Martin. Havins met her husband, Justin Bruening, who played Tad's son, Jamie, on the now-defunct soap. In 2024, Knight portrays Martin Grey, Lulu's uncle. When Havins jokingly tried to entice her husband to join the GH cast, reuniting with Knight was his first thought.
"I was trying to lure him in and I could see him kind of considering it and then he was like, 'But would I get to work with Michael Knight?'" Havins explained to TV Insider. "And I’m like, OK, wait a minute, forget me. I can see where my ranking is. I’m like way below Mikey.' But who doesn’t like Michael Knight? He’s so sweet. I’m excited but no, we haven’t crossed paths, we are related now [Martin is Lulu’s uncle], so we get to play that.'"
For now, Lulu has a lot of catching up to do as she reclaims the life that was once hers.
