As Madeline Reeves on General Hospital, Donna Mills set the course for her daughter, Nina (Cynthia Watros), by placing her in a coma for decades. Now, Mills is guesting on the nautical mystery series Doctor Odyssey, which stars fan-favorite Joshua Jackson (Dawson's Creek) as Dr. Max Bankman.
"The trailer just dropped for my episode of Dr. Odyssey. Airing this Thursday night on ABC. #drodyssey #sophisticatedladies."
In the teaser video, you can see Mills's character wearing a beautiful gown as she dances with Jackson's Dr. Max. "Are you attached to me?" Mills's character coyly asks the dashing physician. "I should be so lucky," the charming doctor replies.
Of course, no episode of Dr. Odyssey would be complete without a medical crisis. "I have a contagious passenger," Dr. Bankman tells Captain Robert Massey (played by Don Johnson). After his patient takes a turn for the worse, a frustrated Dr. Bankman laments, "This cannot be happening!"
According to the show's official synopsis, viewers can also expect to see: "Tristan [Sean Teale] strives to prove himself to Avery, while Captain Massey is shaken by shocking news. Meanwhile, Sophisticated Ladies Week brings a disruptive passenger onboard, while the crew navigates the delicate care of a terminal patient."
In a more light-hearted moment of the episode, Dr. Bankman notes the arrival of some passengers as "Sophisticated Ladies" week — instead of the previous term that was used to describe such women — "cougars!"
Jackson isn't Mills's first younger leading man. On Knots Landing, as Abby Ewing, she had a tryst with Peter Hollister (Hunt Block) that ended tragically. Peter played the field, having an affair with Paige (Nicollette Sheridan) and stringing Abby's teen daughter Olivia (Tonya Crowe) along. After Peter accidentally died after falling on a spindle, Olivia thought Abby had killed him and vice/versa. Abby dragged Peter's body to a playground site that was under construction, hoping the concrete would cover it up and he'd never be found. That didn't work out well. Eventually, Paige confessed to seeing how Peter died.
Mills, who opened a vineyard in 2018, is just one of many familiar faces who has set sail on Dr. Odyssey. Other actors who've appeared on the Ryan Murphy series include Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live), singer Shania Twain, Chord Overstreet (Glee), comedienne Margaret Cho, Margot Martindale, John Stamos (ex-Blackie, GH), and, most recently, Angela Bassett brought her 9-1-1 character Athena Grant-Nash to the show.
