General Hospital Comings and Goings: Y&R alum Daniel Goddard joins cast

General Hospital fans will meet Josslyn's new professor next week, played by The Young and the Restless vet Daniel Goddard.

On the April 10th episode of GH, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) learned that she will be taking an environmental physics class with Professor Henry Dalton as part of her first WSB super spy assignment. Goddard will debut in the role on Tuesday, April 15th.

For now, even Goddard doesn't know much about his new character — which is just the way he likes it.

"I said to Frank [Valentini, executive producer], 'Don’t tell me anything about the character,'" Goddard told TV Insider. "I know that the characters that I’ve had scenes with know something about him. I don’t want to know what it is because I don’t want to play it that I know. I’d rather have the character be sort of a clean slate to me."

With a big Port Charles University story heating up that will ensnare Josslyn, Emma (Braedyn Bruner), and presumably Gio (Giovanni Mazza) and Trina (Tabyana Ali), it looks like Goddard will be in the thick of things.

CBS soap fans know Daniel Goddard from his long run as Y&R's Cane Ashby. The actor played the role off and on, but mostly on, from 2007 to 2019. He wasn't looking for another soap gig when he got the call in December to read for the recast role of Jack Brennan. The part ultimately went to Chris McKenna, but Goddard was just thrilled to be considered. A few weeks later, GH came calling again.

"I was like, 'Are you kidding me? I was just gobsmacked by it," Goddard shared. "It wasn’t a recast. It was a new character, and I was so blown away. I really felt like the timing was right, and I felt like it was meant to be. I can’t begin to express my gratitude to Frank and everyone at General Hospital and to Michael Bruno [his manager] for really believing in me and being there."

GH will also feel like home for Goddard, considering the various cast members he also worked with on Y&R, including Genie Francis, who played his mother Genevieve, and Tristan Rogers, who played Cane's father, Colin.
