General Hospital fans haven't seen the last of Kelly Monaco. The popular actress will be back on-screen as Sam McCall on Wednesday, September 25, according to Soap Opera Digest.

Kelly Monaco is still playing Sam

When Lindsay Hartley stepped in for Monaco in last week's scenes, some fans wondered if Hartley might finish Sam's storyline this fall. However, we soon learned that Hartley taped those episodes the same day she taped scenes that aired last month.

Monaco will be playing her longtime role when Sam appears again on Wednesday, concerned about Alexis' extreme legal troubles.

Hartley has stepped in to pinch-hit for Monaco several times since 2020. She brought Sam to life early in 2024, as well as in August and September of this year. There is no word on whether we will see Hartley as Sam again before the character is killed.

Before becoming a substitute Sam, Hartley was known to soap fans as Passions' Theresa Lopez Fitzgerald, Days of our Lives' Arianna Hernandez, and All My Children's Cara Castillo.

Monaco's General Hospital exit

On August 26, 2024, news broke that Monaco had been let go from General Hospital after 21 years. As of now, GH plans to kill Sam off, but there are no details about her final story yet, nor has her last airdate been revealed.

Monaco's fans have rallied around the actress with a Change.org petition and social media hashtags in an effort to get the powers that be to change their minds about the actress' status.

Monaco has remained relatively quiet since news of her exit became public, but she broke her social media silence on September 15, which was the anniversary of former co-star Billy Miller's death. Miller was paired with Monaco as a recast Jason Morgan in 2014. However, his character was later revealed to be Drew Cain.

"Duces. 'I’ve got your back and you always had mine.' I will tell our story soon enough," Monaco wrote on Instagram. "I love and miss you… and beyond."

Monaco began her soap career on the GH spinoff Port Charles in 2000, where she played Livvie Locke until the soap was canceled in 2003. She was immediately offered a role on GH, and Sam McCall was born. During her GH tenure, Monaco also became the first winner of the Mirror Ball trophy on the reality competition series Dancing With the Stars.
