It looks like General Hospital's Trina will truly be getting back into life when she returns to classes at Port Charles University. Soap newcomer Jens Austin Astrup will be joining the cast as a new love interest for the popular college student character.
About Jens Austin Astrup
Astrup's first screen credit was in 2006 when he appeared on the sitcom The King of Queens. Since then, he has had roles in the short films The Life of Davie and Baby Talk. Astrup also guest starred on two episodes of Gossip Girl in 2022. The young actor grew up in Los Angeles and attended Vassar College.
According to Deadline, Astrup will play a PCU student named Kai, whom Tabyana Ali's Trina will meet on campus. Trina recently decided to return to school after taking some time off to mourn Spencer Cassadine, who was presumed dead in January of this year.

A new lease on life for General Hospital's Trina
Since Spencer's death, Trina has focused on her work at Ava's gallery while the soap experimented with pairing her with Giovanni Mazza's Gio. Trina and Gio seemed to hit it off right away, but he also showed an interest in Josslyn (Eden McCoy). Unfortunately, Joss only has eyes for Dex (Evan Hofer), so Gio seems to be without a romance, as does Trina.
However, all that looks like it's about to change when Trina meets Kai in November, and sparks fly.
Trina has been languishing without a story of her own since Spencer's apparent death last winter. Spencer and Trina were the most popular young couple GH had seen in years, but their romance ended when Nicholas Alexander Chavez left the soap to star in Ryan Murphy's Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Chavez has become a Hollywood sensation since Monster dropped on Netflix in September. He also stars in Murphy's Grotesquerie on FX.
Is it possible that Trina finally finds love again, only for Spencer to return from the dead with a new actor in the role? Time will tell.
