Everything seemed to be going too well for General Hospital's Dex after he was stabbed this week in the same way everything was going way too well for Sam after she gave part of her liver to Lulu. That made it seem obvious and ominous that Dex would die by the end of the week, and now that's what's happened as Evan Hofer exits the soap.
General Hospital kills Dex Heller
Josslyn (Eden McCoy) seemed a little clueless this week when she said she thought Dex would be safe as a cop and was glad he wasn't a mobster anymore. Sadly, she just learned that being an officer of the law isn't a safe job after all. Someone snuck up behind Dex earlier this week and literally stabbed him in the back.

He was told the wound wasn't serious, and he'd be out of the hospital and home for the holidays. Then, he flatlined the same way Sam (Kelly Monaco) flatlined just after he was happily chatting with Josslyn on the phone while watching college football.
Now, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) realizes something is afoot at General Hospital, and it's not good. Between Lulu's (Alexa Havins) ventilator issues, Sam's sudden death, and now Dex's death, it appears there is a serial killer on the loose, and his name is Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).
Evan Hofer became a fan favorite
Hofer joined the cast of GH in 2022 as Sonny's (Maurice Benard) new henchman, who turned out to be working for Michael (Chad Duell) in order to bring Sonny down. When Sonny learned the truth, he nearly killed him. However, Anna offered him a new start with the Port Charles PD that ended up spelling his end.
However, Hofer is grateful for the opportunity that GH gave him and enjoyed his final few weeks on set.
"I found out probably a few weeks before we filmed the scene," Hofer told Entertainment Weekly. "Honestly, I was just excited to find out what the story was going to be, and wanted to hear how that was going to go. So my last few weeks were really just trying to soak in how much I loved playing Dex, and how much I loved all the people over at GH. I had such a wonderful time there over the last two-and-a-half years, and I was just trying to make sure that I do justice to the character in those final episodes."
Josslyn has now lost two loves to death in her young life and will have to find a way to go on without her beloved Dex.
