Holly Sutton is returning to Port Charles and General Hospital this week, as Emma Samms brings Robert's ex-wife back.
Emma Samms makes another General Hospital return
Expect to see Holly again on Wednesday, September 4. The last time we saw the character, Holly and Robert tried another turn at romance, but Robert was also involved with Diane Miller. Things got heated when Diane caught Robert and Holly kissing.
While Robert wanted to fight for Holly, she made the decision to let him go and leave town to help her son, Ethan, settle some debt. Holly felt her life and Robert's life were no longer compatible, so the pair said their emotional goodbyes.
Why is Holly back in Port Charles?
While the reason for Holly's latest GH stint has yet to be revealed, perhaps she learns of Lulu's plight and returns to Port Charles with Ethan. After all, Ethan's father was the late Luke Spencer, making him Lulu's half-brother. With Lulu in need of a liver transplant, Ethan could be the answer Lulu and her loved ones have been waiting for.
Robert and Holly might also want to revisit their relationship. While Robert and Diane have barely been seen together recently, there's been no word that they broke up, so Holly could put a crimp in Robert and Diane's romance.
Robert has not been able to get Holly out of his system since the 1980s. Robert married Holly when she found herself pregnant with Luke Spencer's child. They both believed Luke was dead, so Robert married Holly to ensure she wasn't deported and to give her child a father. Sadly, Holly miscarried. By the time Luke turned up alive, Robert and Holly had fallen in love.
Holly was also presumed dead several times over the decades, with the last time being in 2020. In 2022, Holly turned up alive in the Quartermaine boathouse. Fans eventually learned that Victor Cassadine was forcing Holly to do his dirty work. Victor had taken Ethan hostage, threatening his life. Holly finally rescued her son in 2023.
There's no word yet on how long Samms's latest GH return will last. The British-born actress makes the United Kingdom her first home and flies into Los Angeles to film her GH scenes. Samms has also been vocal about suffering from Long COVID and her physical limitations since first contracting the virus in March of 2020.
