General Hospital comings and goings: Charlie Besso joins soap as Tobias

General Hospital fans finally meet Aiden's boyfriend on the belated Valentine's Day episode. According to Soap Opera Network, Charlie Besso has been cast as Tobias, a character mentioned for the first time more than a year ago, but never seen.

Besso makes his soap opera debut on GH after a handful of professional roles, including appearances in Fallout, Night Agent, The Calling, and Will Trent. The 22-year-old actor was born in the South of France but grew up in Laguna Beach, CA. He graduated from New York University in 2023 and began pursuing his acting career back in Los Angeles.

His GH character was first mentioned in December of 2023 when Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Aiden were baking Christmas cookies together, and Aiden mentioned he was seeing someone. He quietly and casually told Liz this person's name was Tobias, which was Aiden's way of coming out to his mother.

In 2024, Aiden spoke of Tobias a few times, but we never met the character. The Valentine's Day episode, which was delayed due to pre-emptions for President Jimmy Carter's funeral last month, features Aiden and Tobias getting ready for a skating date.

Another new GH face

Aiden recently came out to his father last fall in a poignant scene when Lucky returned to Port Charles after many years away. When Tobias and Aiden prepare for their Valentine's Day date, Lucky will be played by Guy Wilson rather than Jonathan Jackson. Wilson, who once brought Will Horton to life on Days of our Lives, is a temporary recast. Jackson is currently back on set filming new episodes.

GH will also feature both of Aiden's parents sharing their first kiss in over a decade as Elizabeth and Lucky give into the returning feelings that have been growing between them. Lucky had been working on humanitarian missions for years, leaving Elizabeth to raise her sons alone.

The episode will end with danger for Elizabeth once Lucky, Aiden, and Tobias are gone. Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) appears at her front door with a menacing look on his face, and Elizabeth knows she is in trouble.
