General Hospital finally has a brand-new Lulu Spencer. The character, who has been in a coma since 2020, will soon be played by All My Children alumnus Alexa Havins.
General Hospital has a new Lulu
According to Daytime Confidential, Havins was cast as the legacy character after rumors about who would play the part swirled for weeks. As the World Turns and Yellowstone vet Jen Landon and former Days of our Lives star Marci Miller were two actresses whose names had made the rounds as possible Lulus.
Havins played Babe Carey on AMC from 2003 to 2007 and again in 2011. Babe's husband J.R. Chandler was played by Jacob Young, who brought Lulu's brother Lucky to life on GH from 2000 to 2003. Jonathan Jackson, who originally played a teenage Lucky in 1993, is now back in the role as Lulu's beloved brother, while her loved ones wait to see if he is a match to donate a portion of his liver to save Lulu.
Some of Havins' most recent small screen credits include Sweet Magnolias, The Astronaut Wives Club, and Killer Vacation, according to IMDb.
With Havins cast as Lulu, it looks like Luke and Laura's daughter will live and even wake from that pesky coma. Julie Marie Berman played a teenage and young adult Lulu from 2005 to 2013. Emme Rylan took over for Berman when Berman exited GH, and Rylan played Lulu until the character fell into a coma in 2020.
Lulu's four-year coma
When Lulu wakes, she will have a lot to catch up on, as life went on without her in Port Charles for the last four years. After an explosion at the Floating Rib, Lulu learned her boyfriend, Dustin, had died. Lulu was ready to tell Dante that she still loved him when she suddenly had a blinding headache and fell into the coma she is still in today.
During Lulu's long slumber, Dante went on with his life and created a blended family with Sam. With Kelly Monaco exiting the soap and Sam set to die, could GH be planning a Lulu and Dante reunion? It's clear that Dante still has strong feelings for his first wife. Lulu will also have to come to terms with the fact that her children have grown into teens without her.
